Jørn Hinge is the President and Chief Executive Officer of United Arab Shipping Company.
Jørn had joined UASC in 1994 as its Chief Operating Officer.
Over the past 15 years, he served as Chairman of several shipping conferences – the Europe Middle East Rate Agreement, India Pakistan Bangladesh Ceylon Conference as well as the FESAMEC and IRA. Jørn also serves as Chairman/Director on several UASC subsidiaries.
Prior to joining UASC, Jørn worked with the East Asiatic Company Ltd., (EAC) Copenhagen (1966 – 1994), in various Managerial positions in EAC branches and affiliated companies, in South America, North America and Europe.
Jørn has over 30 years experience in shipping, 15 of which spent with UASC in Kuwait and Dubai.
With his wealth of experience in chartering, project shipping, new building projects and liner shipping; Jørn was instrumental in building-up EAC’s liner services between Australia and the Far East. Back in 1990 Jørn was appointed CEO of a joint-venture between EAC and Ben Line of Edinburgh with the task of starting up a new container service between Far East and North Europe.
Jørn was born in 1949, married to Valquiria and has three sons.
