Waleed Al Dawood

Waleed is a long standing member of United Arab Shipping Company. He joined as a management trainee in 1981 and has built up 33 years of professional experience in the field of shipping. During this period, he served as Vice President Middle East Region and then as Chief Technical Officer prior to being named Chief Operating Officer in 2009. He is also the Chairman of United Arab Chemical Carriers (UACC).

As a core member of the executive management team, Waleed is central to developing and delivering on UASC’s strategy and its expansion program and realizing the technical and operational efficiencies that will position UASC as one of the most sustainable shipping companies in the world. He also manages UASC’s ambitious newbuilding program that includes seventeen ultra-large vessels which are amongst the world’s largest and most technologically advanced. This program will see UASC become the first company in the industry to be ‘LNG ready’.

Critical to attaining optimal operational efficiency and delivering excellence to customers and protect the environment, Waleed leads the continuous development of UASC’s IT infrastructure, including vessel and voyage efficiency management program and the Company’s ERP software (TRUST). In addition to IT, Waleed also manages the central procurement, operations, fleet and container management departments.

Waleed holds an Executive MBA from the American University of Sharjah and a Bachelors degree in Economics from Kuwait University. He also holds a Post-graduate Degree in Ship Management from the Department of Maritime Studies at the University of Wales, Institute of Science and Technology in Cardiff, UK.
