Al Zaid joined UASC in 2001 as Vice President Treasury and was named Chief Financial Officer in 2008.
A highly respected figure in the financial community, Al Zaid has masterminded the financing of UASC’s newbuilding program, which currently comprises 17 ships; eleven 15,000 TEU vessels and six 18,800 TEU vessels. These vessels will see UASC become the first company in the industry to become ‘LNG ready’, significantly reducing fuel costs, while at the same time improving environmental credentials. The sustained financial strength that Al Zaid has helped to embed at UASC provides the foundations for the company’s commitment to designing pioneering transport solutions for its customers.
Al Zaid has over 27 years of managerial experience in corporate finance, treasury and international investments, including 14 years with major financial institutions in Kuwait such as Burgan Bank, Kuwait Finance House, and Kuwait Securities Group, prior to joining UASC.
Al Zaid holds a Masters Degree and a Bachelors degree in International Business from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
